This unique book illustrates "chickenality" of all kinds of chickens,from babies to adults. I like the non-fiction story style with hundreds beautiful pictures that represent their characters, habbit and social life. Good for all age to read.
This Beautiful storybook celebrates the unique appearances and personalities of the author's chickens. It details her chicken's behaviors and activities in a fun and entertaining way. The photographs are vivid with color, specifically chosen to illustrate the lively text. It has a happy, upbeat storyline and made me laugh at the antics of some of the birds!
I would highly recommend this book for all ages, from preschool to octogenarian. There is something here to be enjoyed by everyone.
I do recommend this book for young ones who have yet to learn to read and to those who are able to read. With all the pictures and just enough information to encourage young ones to want to learn more about chickens. I know for a fact that the author used her very own chickens to star in her book. My niece loves her "We Are Chickens" book, she is two and knows what she likes already at her very young age. This is for sure a good book for all young ones who have an interest in chickens.
This is a great little book to introduce different chicken species to children. Children that live on farms will love to see some of their own chickens in the full color photographs. Those who aren't lucky enough to live on farms will get a great introduction to free-range farm life. I had no idea there were so many different chicken types, or that they had such interesting personalities.
Through a simple narrative, the author uses her own experience to portray the personalities and splendor of a type of animal that certainly doesn't get enough respect.
This picture book introduces children (and adults!) to the variety of chickens in an enchanting way. It gives personality to each breed, and is illustrated by large, colorful photographs. It has intriguing tidbits of details--for instance, did you know some chickens have SIX toes? There's a photo of that breed's foot to illustrate that! I didn't realize how many different types of chickens there were in the world. I also enjoyed the theme of "family" in this book, which any child or adult can relate to and appreciate.
As an added bonus, the author has generously offered to give 10% of all sales proceeds to Children's Help Organizations.
