Invincible #118 eBook Robert Kirkman Ryan Ottley John Rauch Reviews
This was a downright bizarre issue, even by the standards of Invincible. I really enjoyed the rendering of the alien planet that Mark and family have arrived at, in search of their new home. It's a bright, vibrant, detailed world, and it reminded me of the world of Ratchet and Clank, with all the flying cars, skyscrapers, and variety of citizens. It was also great to see a couple of old favorites, Allen the Alien and little brother Oliver. The weirdness begins with Oliver's odd (to put it mildly) girlfriend, the disturbing dinner party, and Mark's subsequent trip to the can. No typos there. Unfortunately, it really feels like nothing actually happens in this issue (there's even a recap with recycled artwork from previous issues taking up the first several pages). Nonetheless, it's Invincible, so it's still enjoyable, even if not much happens. It's somewhat refreshing to see an issue in which not a single punch is thrown (excluding the recap)!
Amazing jumping on point for the series!! After reading this I just had to go back and start from volume 1. I enjoyed the characters in this issue so much that I had to go back and learn more about them. A+
